Pre Level 2 Training
Who is it for?
- Existing staff
- Those about to be employed
- Staff who have no qualifications or sector based qualifications
- Staff who have no knowledge of the care certificate
- Staff who need upskilling in their basic English and Maths skills
What is the training?
The training can be very flexible depending on the employers and employees needs and can be delivered classroom based or through distance learning. It can also be delivered where you are. Our standard training course is delivered over 60 hours and includes:
- City & Guilds Level 1 Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care
- A basic knowledge and understanding of the 15 standards of the Care Certificate
- Mentoring throughout the training and for up to 3 months after if required
However we are happy to discuss the length of the course and what you need is as an employer through our Training Needs Analysis meetings.

Take on an Apprenticeship
Who is it for?
- Any new staff
- Your existing staff
The Health and Care Academy want to support employees with progression opportunities and employers with staff development support. Apprentices can fulfil several roles within the Health and Care sector, from supporting roles such as administration, customer service, catering or IT through to Health and Care, team leading and management.
Course Development and venues
We want to be as responsive to your needs as much as possible, so we would like to hear from you on what you would want in the training program. Not only can we offer staff the standard training, we can work with the employer to add on additional training that would be beneficial to the staff. Just get in contact.
All our training is delivered in the community and near those that want it. We would really like the training to be held in an environment within the sector,
so we are looking for any employers that could provide rooms for the training. This would be beneficial to the trainees as they could gain an insight into
There is a signpost opportunity to refer any unsuccessful candidates, that you have interviewed or spoken with, to the HCSWA. This enables individuals the opportunity to upskill and to gain additional sector specific qualifications with an outlook of reapplying.
Join our 'Make it Real' sessions
As an Employer we would also like to give you the opportunity to be involved in our Pre Level 2 courses. Our ‘Make it real’ sessions allow employers to come along and give a presentation or talk about their place in the sector to give the learners an account of what it is like.
Take part in Speed Interviews
We can also offer employers the opportunity to be involved in ‘Speed Interview’ sessions to prepare those out of work for their future interviews. At this point you may see some learners that would make perfect candidates for your vacancies supporting your recruitment needs.
